Professional Development Institute
The Professional Development Institute, also known as PDI, is an academy style program that provides employee with either Certificate and/or Leadership program opportunities. Employee are selected for these programs based on their skill and job position.
New Hire Learning Program
We provide continuous learning opportunities that help employees feel welcomed, acquire a good understanding of the organization, and gain the tools necessary to be successful on the job.
Competency-Based Training
The City of Memphis has identified specific core competencies for Employees, Managers, and Leadership. The Learning Center offers many learning opportunities to help employee achieve and successfully maintain these core competencies. Some of these opportunities range from soft-skills training such as Team building, Time Management, Customer Services, and Conflict Resolution to technical offerings such as Microsoft Office trainings.
Continuing Education
Tuition Reimbursement
The Tuition Reimbursement Program was established to assist City employees with the cost of college tuition. Eligible City employees may receive up to $3,000 for tuition, books, and/or experiential learning credit per fiscal year, depending on the type program.
Student Loan Reduction
The Student Loan Reduction Program provides extra student loan payments – $50 paid by the City each month – on top of your monthly minimums, helping you save time and money. Through our online platform, you’ll be able to see all of your loans, repayment strategies, financing options, and the positive impact the loan contributions are making toward you financial wellness!
Compliance Training
Compliance trainings not only help employees understand the legal boundaries within which an organization operates, but also in educating employees about the organization’s policies, culture and values. These trainings range from Respectful Workplace trainings for all employees to Performance Management for Supervisors/Managers and are essential to ensuring the organization’s success in operational efficiency.
