The Memphis Fire Department responded to an alarm of fire at 3068 Kirkcaldy Road, Saturday, December 12, 2020 at 2:58 p.m. Upon arrival on the scene, firefighters reported smoke visible from the one-story wood frame residential structure. Rescue and Firefighting operations began immediately. Fourteen (14) pieces of Fire/Rescue/EMS equipment and approximately thirty-three
(33) emergency response personnel ultimately responded to the call. Battalion Chief S. Clark was the commanding officer of this incident. The fire was brought under control at 3:10 p.m. There were no firefighter or civilian injuries. It has been determined that the residence did have a working smoke alarm. The structure sustained smoke, fire and water damage. Total damage is estimated at $40,000.00 structure and $10,000.00 contents. The origin and cause of the fire was determined to be accidental; the occupant knocked a toaster over on the den couch and it ultimately ignited the sofa and combustible materials in the den. Red Cross provided assistance for one adult.

The Memphis Fire Department responded to an alarm of fire at 1523 Dunmoor Road, Saturday, December 12, 2020 at 4:08 p.m. Upon arrival on the scene, firefighters reported heavy smoke visible from the one-story wood frame residential structure. Rescue and Firefighting operations began immediately. Twelve (12) pieces of Fire/Rescue/EMS equipment and approximately thirty-four (34) emergency response personnel ultimately responded to the call. Acting Battalion Chief M. Edwards was the commanding officer of this incident. The fire was brought under control at 4:25 p.m. There were no firefighter or civilian injuries. It has been determined that the residence did have a working smoke alarm. The structure sustained smoke, fire and water damage. Total damage is estimated at $25,000.00 structure and $8,000.00 contents. The origin and cause of the fire was determined to be a wall receptacle that malfunctioned in the welding shop. Red Cross assistance was not requested.

The Memphis Fire Department responded to a house fire at 111 Eastman Road, Saturday, December 12, 2020 at 9:50 p.m. Upon arrival on the scene, firefighters reported fire visible from the two-story wood frame residential structure. Rescue and Firefighting operations began immediately Seventeen (17) pieces of Fire/Rescue/EMS equipment and approximately forty-five (45) emergency response personnel ultimately responded to the call. Division Chief T. Grant was the commanding officer of this incident. The fire was brought under control at 10:20 p.m. There were no firefighter or civilian injuries. It has been determined that the residence did have a working smoke alarm. The structure sustained smoke, fire and water damage. Total damage is estimated at $45,000.00 structure and $20,000.00 contents. The origin and cause of the fire was determined to be accidental; the fireplace in the living room was not properly inspected and opened before use. Red Cross provided assistance for two adults.

The Memphis Fire Department responded to a house fire at 1603 Gotten Street, Sunday, December 13, 2020 at 12:08 a.m. Upon arrival on the scene, firefighters reported fire visible from the one-story wood frame residential structure. Rescue and Firefighting operations began immediately. Ten (10) pieces of Fire/Rescue/EMS equipment and approximately twenty-six (26) emergency response personnel ultimately responded to the call. Acting Battalion Chief M. Edwards was the commanding officer of this incident. The fire was brought under control at 12:19 a.m. There were no firefighter or civilian injuries. The unoccupied structure sustained smoke, fire and water damage. Total damage is estimated at $10,000.00 structure and $5,000.00 contents. The origin and cause of the fire was determined to be a washer that malfunctioned in the kitchen. Red Cross assistance was not requested.

The Memphis Fire Department responded to a house fire at 4248 Sunnyslope Drive, Sunday, December 13, 2020 at 6:29 a.m. Upon arrival on the scene, firefighters reported fire visible from the two-story wood frame residential structure. Rescue and Firefighting operations began immediately. Thirteen (13) pieces of Fire/Rescue/EMS equipment and approximately twenty-nine (29) emergency response personnel ultimately responded to the call. Battalion Chief A. Bradshaw was the commanding officer of this incident. The fire was brought under control at 6:46 a.m. There were no firefighter or civilian injuries. Red Cross provided assistance for three adults and two children. It has been determined that the residence did not have a working smoke alarm. The structure sustained smoke, fire and water damage. Total damage is estimated at $68,000.00 structure and $15,000.00 contents. The origin and cause of the fire is inconclusive. This fire is still under investigation. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 528-CASH (2274) or the State Arson Hotline at 1-800-762-3017. You could be eligible to receive a cash reward from Crime Stoppers of Memphis and Shelby County, Inc.

The Memphis Fire Department urges all citizens to maintain a working smoke alarm in their place of residence. Check smoke alarms once a month and change the battery when you change your clocks. City of Memphis residents may apply for a free smoke
