The Memphis Fire Department responded to a vacant house fire at 46 W. Frank Avenue, Saturday, February 6, 2021 at 12:49 a.m. Upon arrival on the scene, firefighters reported heavy fire visible from the one-story wood frame residential structure. Rescue and Firefighting operations began immediately. Fifteen (15) pieces of Fire/Rescue/EMS equipment and approximately thirty-one (31) emergency response personnel ultimately responded to the call. Division Chief P. Dix was the commanding officer of this incident. The fire was brought under control at 1:08 a.m. There were no firefighter or civilian injuries. The vacant structure sustained smoke, fire and water damage. Total damage is estimated at $14,300.00 structure and no contents. The origin and cause of the fire was determined to be intentionally set in the interior of the home. This fire is still under investigation. The Memphis Fire Department responded to a house fire at 1273 S. Wellington Street, Friday, February 5, 2021 at 9:42 p.m. Upon arrival on the scene, firefighters reported smoke visible from the two-story wood-frame residential rooming house. Rescue and Firefighting operations began immediately. Fourteen (14) pieces of Fire/Rescue/EMS equipment and approximately thirty-four (34) emergency response personnel ultimately responded to the call. Division Chief P. Dix was the commanding officer of this incident. The fire was brought under control at 9:59 p.m. There were no firefighter or civilian injuries. Red Cross provided
assistance for one adult. It has been determined that the residence did not have a working smoke alarm. The structure sustained smoke, fire and water damage. Total damage is estimated at $10,000.00 structure and $1,500.00 contents. The origin and cause of the fire was determined to be a space heater positioned too close to combustible materials in the
bedroom.

The Memphis Fire Department responded to a house fire at 2324 Dexter Avenue, Friday, February 05, 2021 at 11:45 a.m. Upon arrival on the scene, firefighters reported smoke visible from the one-story wood-frame residential structure. Rescue and Firefighting operations began immediately. Seventeen (17) pieces of Fire/Rescue/EMS equipment and approximately thirty-four (34) emergency response personnel ultimately responded to the call. Division Chief D. Atkins was the commanding officer of this incident. The fire was brought under control at 12:05 p.m. One firefighter was transported in stable condition to
Regional One Hospital with smoke inhalation. One civilian was treated and released on the scene for a minor burn to her arm. Red Cross provided assistance for three adults. It has been determined that the residence did have a working smoke alarm. The structure sustained smoke, fire and water damage. Total damage is estimated at $27,000.00 structure and $5,000.00 contents. The origin and cause of the fire was determined to be electrical wiring that malfunctioned in the bedroom ceiling.

The Memphis Fire Department responded to an alarm of fire at 6662 Beaver Lodge Drive, Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at 8:18 p.m. Upon arrival on the scene, firefighters reported smoke visible from the one-story wood-frame residential structure. Rescue and Firefighting operations began immediately. Twelve (12) pieces of Fire/Rescue/EMS equipment and approximately thirty-one (31) emergency response personnel ultimately responded to the call. Battalion Chief S. Dew was the commanding officer of this incident. The fire was brought under control at 8:28 p.m. There were no firefighter or civilian injuries. It has been determined that the residence did have a working smoke alarm. The structure sustained smoke, fire and water damage. Total damage is estimated at $20,000.00 structure and $10,000.00 contents. The origin and cause of the fire was determined to be food left unattended on the stove in the kitchen. Red Cross provided assistance for two adults and four children.

The Memphis Fire Department responded to an alarm of fire at 3241 Aden Street, Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at 11:55 p.m. Upon arrival on the scene, firefighters reported fire visible from the one-story wood-frame residential structure. Rescue and Firefighting operations began immediately. Twelve (12) pieces of Fire/Rescue/EMS equipment and approximately twenty-eight (28) emergency response personnel ultimately responded to the call. Battalion
Chief S. Clark was the commanding officer of this incident. The fire was brought under
control at 12:12 a.m. There were no firefighter or civilian injuries. It has been determined that the residence did have a working smoke alarm. The structure sustained smoke, fire and water damage. Total damage is estimated at $10,000.00 structure and $2,500.00 contents. The origin and cause of the fire was determined to be a floor furnace that malfunctioned in the hallway. Red Cross assistance was not requested.

The Memphis Fire Department responded to an alarm of fire at 943 Norfleet Avenue, Tuesday, February 2, 2021 at 7:35 p.m. Upon arrival on the scene, firefighters reported smoke visible from the one-story wood-frame residential structure. Rescue and Firefighting operations began immediately. Thirteen (13) pieces of Fire/Rescue/EMS equipment and approximately twenty-nine (29) emergency response personnel ultimately responded to the call. Battalion Chief T. Gentry was the commanding officer of this incident. The fire was brought under control at 7:55 p.m. There were no firefighter or civilian injuries. It has been determined that the residence did have a working smoke alarm. The structure sustained smoke, fire and water damage. Total damage is estimated at $5,000.00 structure and $5,000.00 contents. The origin and cause of the fire was determined to be accidental; the stove was being used as a heat source and ultimately ignited combustibles in the kitchen. Red Cross assistance was not requested.

The Memphis Fire Department urges all citizens to maintain a working smoke alarm in their place of residence. Check smoke alarms once a month and change the battery when you change your clocks.
