Appleville Cove

The Memphis Fire Department responded to a house fire at 188 Appleville Cove, Tuesday, November 3, 2020 at 8:05 p.m. Upon arrival on the scene, firefighters reported heavy fire visible from the one-story wood-frame residential structure. Rescue and Firefighting operations began immediately. Fifteen (15) pieces of Fire/Rescue/EMS equipment and approximately thirty-five (35)
emergency response personnel ultimately responded to the call. Battalion Chief M. Tolliver was the commanding officer of this incident. The fire was brought under control at 8:23 p.m. There were no firefighter or civilian injuries. Red Cross provided assistance for one (1) adult. It has been determined that the residence did not have a working smoke alarm. The structure sustained smoke, fire and water damage. Total damage is estimated at $30,000.00 structure and $25,000.00 contents. The origin and cause of the fire was determined to be faulty electrical wiring in the bathroom ceiling.


Cortona Place

The Memphis Fire Department responded to a house fire at 1104 Cortona Place, Tuesday, November 3, 2020 at 8:26 p.m. Upon arrival on the scene, firefighters reported smoke visible from the one-story wood-frame residential structure. Rescue and Firefighting operations began immediately. Ten (10) pieces of Fire/Rescue/EMS equipment and approximately twenty-six (26)
emergency response personnel ultimately responded to the call. Battalion Chief C. Miles was the commanding officer of this
incident. The fire was brought under control at 8:41 p.m. There were no firefighter or civilian injuries. Red Cross assistance was not requested. It has been determined that the residence did have a working smoke alarm. The structure sustained smoke, fire and water damage. Total damage is estimated at $15,000.00 structure and $2,000.00 contents. The origin and cause of the fire was determined to be cooking oil left unattended on the stove in the kitchen.

Laudeen Drive

The Memphis Fire Department responded to a house fire at 1335 Laudeen Drive, Wednesday, November 4, 2020 at 3:59 a.m. Upon arrival on the scene, firefighters reported heavy fire visible from the one-story wood-frame residential structure. Fourteen (14) pieces of Fire/Rescue/EMS equipment and approximately thirty (30) emergency response personnel ultimately responded to the call. Battalion Chief E. Rone was the commanding officer of this incident. The fire was brought under control at 4:19 a.m. There were no firefighter or civilian injuries. Red Cross provided assistance for two (2) adults. It has been determined that the residence did not have a working smoke alarm. The structure and four (4) vehicles sustained smoke, fire and water damage. Total damage is estimated at $70,000.00 vehicles, $40,000.00 structure and $10,000.00 contents. The origin and cause of the fire was determined to be intentionally set in the interior of the vehicle in the carport. This is an active investigation. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 528-CASH (2274) or the State Arson Hotline at 1-800-762-3017. Windmeadow Lane

The Memphis Fire Department responded to an alarm of fire at 6040 Windmeadow Lane, Wednesday, November 4, 2020 at 2:22 p.m. Upon arrival on the scene, firefighters reported smoke visible from the two-story wood frame apartments. Seventeen (17) pieces of Fire/Rescue/EMS equipment and approximately forty-two (42) emergency response personnel ultimately responded to the call. Acting Battalion Chief K. Boyle was the commanding officer of this incident. The fire was brought under control at 2:45 p.m. There were no firefighter or civilian injuries. It has been determined that the residence did have a working smoke alarm. Four (4)
units sustained smoke, fire and/or water damage. Total damage is estimated at $40,000.00 structure and $10,000.00 contents. The origin and cause of the fire was determined to be accidental; workers welding pipes ignited combustibles in the kitchen wall. Red Cross assistance was not requested.

The Memphis Fire Department urges all citizens to maintain a working smoke alarm in their place of residence. Check smoke alarms once a month and change the battery when you change your clocks.
