The Division of Housing and Community Development (HCD) through the HOME Investment Partnership Program (HOME) is making federal funding available to expand the Community Housing Development Organization (CHDO) Program. The expansion seeks to certify more qualified nonprofit housing developers as Community Housing Development Organizations (CHDOs) in an effort to develop more affordable single-family housing for low-moderate Income households in the City of Memphis.
The CHDO set-aside funds will support affordable housing activities such as acquisition, new construction, and/or rehabilitation of affordable housing for rent or homeownership. In order to qualify for CHDO setaside funding, interested nonprofit housing developers must first be certified as Community Housing Development Organizations (CHDOs) by HCD.
An informational workshop entitled “Interested in Becoming a CHDO” will be held on Monday, January 31, 2022, at 10:00 am. You must register online at https://bit.ly/CHDO21 to attend. You can find more information on HCD’s funding opportunities, including the CHDO program here.
Applications to apply for CHDO Certification will be available after the informational workshop on January 31, 2022, until Friday, February 25, 2022. All applications must be submitted electronically.
