Beginning Saturday, December 5, Riverside Drive between Georgia Avenue and Beale Street will be reduced to one travel lane in each direction to allow Montgomery Martin Contractors to remove a section of median. The removal will allow additional room for travel lanes during future project phases. The lane closures for northbound and southbound traffic are scheduled to be in effect until March 1, 2021.
During the second phase of construction, scheduled to begin March 2, 2021, Riverside Drive between Georgia Avenue and Beale Street will be reduced to one travel lane in the northbound direction to allow Montgomery Martin Contractors to perform reconstruction work on the bluff adjacent to Vance Park. Two travel lanes will be open in the southbound direction during this phase of construction. The northbound lane closure will remain in effect until June 30, 2022.
This work is associated with the planned renovations to Tom Lee Park.
Drivers who normally use Riverside Drive between Georgia Avenue and Beale Street are advised that there could be delays.
