Community Centers reopening March 1

The City of Memphis will start to re-open its community centers starting Monday, March 1.

Bert Ferguson, Cunningham, Douglass, Gaisman, Hickory Hill, Orange Mound, Pine Hill, and Whitehaven will now open Mondays– Fridays 8 a.m.– 5 p.m. and Saturdays 10 a.m.– 2 p.m. for scheduled classes and programs that fall under Memphis Parks core services of Health, Fitness and Wellness; Cultural Arts and Expression; Education and Character Development.  Class sizes are limited and registration is required.  Interested participants must sign up for free here.

Some of the classes/programs offered are:

Walking to the Beat

Volleyball or Kickball

Intro to Microsoft Office

Game Tournaments (Bingo, Domino’s, and Billiards)

Social Living

Dance (line/ creative)

Expression of Art

Saturday Family Day

10 a.m. – 11 a.m.- Family Walk to the Beat

11:30 a.m.-1p.m. – Family Volleyball or Kickball

COVID guidelines such as mandatory face mask and maintaining 6 feet of social distancing will be enforced.  The centers will be open for scheduled programming only and will not be open for free play.  

Opening of senior centers and the remaining community centers will be added in the coming weeks.
