Closures:
Due to MLGW’s water main breaks, the following City of Memphis services will be impacted on Monday, February 22: Benjamin L. Hooks Central Library, Gaston Park Library, and Whitehaven Library will be closed. The Memphis Municipal Courts and City Court Clerk’s Office will also be closed. Traffic fine payments and inquiries may be made online. The Treasury Office will not be accepting in-person tax payments. Tax payments can be made online or by phone at 901-636-7200.
The Division of Planning and Development will not be accepting in-person appointments at the City Hall location.
The Office of Business Diversity and Compliance will host virtual appointments and workshops only with no in-person appointments.
MLGW:
Memphis Light, Gas and Water Boiled Water Advisory is still in effect until further notice and includes all MLGW water customers. MLGW conforms with all lead and copper rule regulations, and are following state guidelines on the precautionary boil water advisory.
MLGW reminds customers that when boiling water it should be brought to a vigorous rolling boil and then boiled for three minutes to ensure destruction of any harmful bacteria and other microbes. Boiled water is only needed for human consumption which includes water for drinking, cooking and preparing and cleaning food. Water should be cooled before using. Customers should follow the same procedures for ice making. Boiled water is not needed for handwashing.
- MLGW asks customers to call the 24-hour Emergency number, 528-4465, if they see water coming out of the ground or out of homes or businesses. Business owners should check their water service and irrigation systems to ensure it has not ruptured.
- A burst water pipe or water heater is considered to be an emergency situation if the leak is inside the home or a business, and if it poses a danger of flooding the building. To report an emergency, customers can call our 24-hour Emergency Hotline at 528-4465. MLGW employees are available 24-hours a day to respond to such emergencies. We will immediately respond by turning off the water supply to help minimize water damage.

Garbage/recycling/outside the cart collections
Regularly scheduled Solid Waste collection services will resume tomorrow. If your collection day is Monday, February 22, customers are asked to place your carts at the curb and leave them until they are collected.
OEM: Warming Centers
The Office of Emergency Management (OEM) will begin closing all of the 24-hour warming centers tomorrow morning, February 22, which includes:
- Hollywood Community Center
- Ruth Tate Senior Center
- Lewis Senior Center (The Frayser Raleigh Senior Center was closed and relocated here.)
MATA Update: EFFECTIVE FEBRUARY 22, 2021:

Public Works:
The City of Memphis Public Works Division is aware the recent winter storm has increased the number of potholes on city streets. The primary reason for this increase comes from changes in the weather from the ice and snow. Potholes during winter months are commonly caused by recurring, and often rapid, freezing and thawing of the roadway surface.
Public Works is asking all city employees including Memphis police officers to report potholes as they observe them. Citizens are also encouraged to notify the City of any potholes by contacting 311 or 636-6500. Public Works’ goal is to have any pothole noticed addressed within 5-10 business days
Shelby Country Health Department update:
All Shelby County Health Department facilities will remain closed Monday, February 22, due to water pressure issues.
Vaccination activities, including drive-thru appointments at the Appling Inspection Site at 2355 Appling City Cove will proceed as scheduled.
Health Department clinic appointments set for February 22nd will be rescheduled.
