City of Memphis Service Center Updates (2-2)

Due to the inclement weather, the warming center will remain open at the Greenlaw Community Center, located at 190 Mill Street. It will close at 8:00 a.m. Friday, February 3. At 6:30 p.m. tonight, persons needing a ride to the warming center via MATA may call 901-297-1680. Here is additional information about other service center changes and general information.

Memphis Treasury 

  • The Memphis Treasury Office has resumed normal operations.
  • Tax payments can be made online at payit901.com or by phone at 901-636-7200.

City Clerk’s Office and Courts

  • Due to inclement weather, City Clerk’s Office and Courts will remain closed Thursday, Feb 2.

-Memphis Public Libraries

The following library locations will be open from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb 2.

  • Benjamin Hooks, Cordova, Poplar, Raleigh, and Bartlett.
  • White Station Library is closed until further notice.
  • All other library locations will open from 12 p.m. -6 p.m.

-Memphis Parks

  • Community Centers are open today from 10 am – 6 pm
  • Senior Centers – 10 am – 4 pm
  • Skinner – 10 am – 5 pm
  • Bickford Pool – 10 am – 6 pm

We encourage residents to call ahead or check social media for the latest updates.

-Public Works:

  • Ice and Snow Operations will continue for at least the next 24 hours.   City crews focus remains to treat major streets with inclines/declines, as well as bridges and overpasses.
  • To report down trees, please call 311, and to report down trees after-hours, contact OEM at 901-636-2525

Solid Waste Collections

The collection of garbage and recycle carts will be delayed this week. Customers are asked to present their carts on their scheduled collection day. City and contractor crews will evaluate route conditions daily and restore services as soon as they can be done safely. We ask for patience as some routes may not be restored until Saturday, February 4, 2023. Customers experiencing delays are asked to leave their garbage and recycle carts at the curb until collected.

Traffic Engineering:

Traffic lights remain out of service due to power outages. This number will fluctuate as MLGW continues to restore power.

Safety Tips for Traffic Signal Outages:

  • Traffic Signal Lights with outages should be treated as a four-way stop
  • Flashing Red Lights should be treated as a stop sign
  • Flashing Yellow Lights – Drivers should proceed with caution only when traffic permits

-MLGW

MLGW Community Offices are closed Thursday, Feb 2. Normal hours will resume as weather permits.

Due to severe winter weather, the Memphis Area Transit Authority (MATA) will operate as follows Thursday, Feb. 2. Fixed Route services will operate on a Sunday schedule service level.

  • Memphis Animal Services has resumed normal service hours.
