City moving forward on early stage investments of Accelerate Memphis

City moving forward on early stage investments of Accelerate Memphis

The City of Memphis is hosting a series of community meetings in anticipation of early stage investments of the Accelerate Memphis initiative. Thirty-Five anchor locations identified in Memphis 3.0 will receive $400,000 each in early-stage investments.  Investments can include public art, new sidewalks, ADA curb ramps, and street lighting.  Implementation will be complete by the end of 2023.

During the meetings, design concepts showing potential public improvements are presented and community members will decide which public improvements to implement.

There will be representatives from the city and their consultants to answer any questions the community might have about this project. $75 million is allocated towards activating Memphis 3.0, the city’s comprehensive plan. The breakdown is provided below.

  • Improving neighborhoods with early-stage investments in 35 anchor areas across the city ($13.6 million), accelerating change with large-scale, targeted investments in nine anchor areas ($37.4 million), making safety improvements in eight Memphis 3.0-identified infrastructure priority anchor areas ($9 million), closing the knowledge gap with broadband infrastructure ($7.5 million), and investing in housing opportunities ($7.5 million).
