City conducting surveys, meetings for Madison and Court re-designs

The Division of Engineering is conducting a public outreach effort for the FY 2022 Capital Improvement Program (CIP) Re-Surfacing projects. Engineering, in partnerships with Downtown Memphis Commission, Memphis Medical District Collaborative, and Innovate Memphis propose re-configuring the lanes on the street segments listed below. The re-configurations include a road diet and other streetscape enhancements aimed at improving safety for all road users. Online surveys and virtual meetings are available for the public to voice their thoughts.

FY 2022 CIP Re-Surfacing Projects with proposed lane re-configurations:

  • Madison Avenue (Front Street to Pauline Street)
  • Court Avenue (Riverside Drive to Main Street)

Surveys are now open and will close at 11:59 p.m. on November 8. Click here: https://www.memphistn.gov/government/engineering/surveys.

The FY 2022 re-surfacing projects are tentatively scheduled for construction between fall 2021 and summer 2022. A map with these street segments, as well as all street segments included on the Fiscal Year 2022 CIP Re-Surfacing list, can be found on the City’s Street Paving Schedule application.

Due to public health restrictions regarding COVID-19, two virtual public input meetings will be co-hosted by our community partners: Memphis Medical District Collaborative (for Madison Ave.) and Innovate Memphis (for Court Ave.) During these meetings, community partners, design consultants, and City staff will present design concepts and provide project details.
