Spirit and Sparkle of Christmas: A Raleigh Tree-Lighting Celebration

December 3, 2021 @ 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas in Raleigh! On Friday December 3, 2021 at 6:00pm, City of Memphis and Shelby County officials will gather for the first annual Raleigh Tree-Lighting Celebration titled “The Spirit and Sparkle of Christmas.” The tree will shine from the roundabout of the Raleigh Springs Civic Center (3384 Austin Peay Hwy) from December 3, 2021 to January 3, 2022.

Memphis City Councilwoman Rhonda Logan, Shelby County Commissioner Willie Brooks, City Mayor Jim Strickland, County Mayor Lee Harris, Memphis Police Chief Cerelyn “CJ” Davis, and Memphis Library Director Keenon McCloy will all be in attendance to give a holiday greeting and introduce one of the many performers from Raleigh. Also in attendance will be various State and School Board Representatives, as well as school principals.

There will be performances from the Raleigh-Egypt Middle School Band and Craigmont High School Choir and festive readings from students of Raleigh neighborhood schools. Literacy Mid-South and We Stand will be donating books to children in attendance. Light refreshments will be served.

Families are encouraged to come gather around the tree, sing a carol or two, and enjoy the warmth and good cheer that comes when you are together with your community during the holiday season.
