Frank Colvett
Councilman Frank Harmon Colvett, Jr. was elected to the City Council in November 2015 and was re-elected in 2019. He was the 2021 Chairman of the Memphis City Council after serving as Vice-Chair in 2018 and 2020. He is a 1988 graduate of Memphis University School and earned his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and minor in history in 1992 from Millsaps College, where he graduated with Honors distinction. While at university, Councilman Colvett served as Sigma Alpha Epsilon Chapter President in 1991. Having served on local development boards for several years, Councilman Colvett is an affiliate agent with Re/Max Experts.
An ardent supporter of community development and involvement, Councilman Colvett leads by example as former chairman of the Associated Builders and Contractors and past President of the Phoenix Club benefitting the Boys and Girls Club. He is a dedicated public servant, having served as alternate on the Memphis and Shelby County Land Use Control Board, Chairman of the Memphis and Shelby County Board of Adjustment and member of the State of Tennessee Pest Control Licensing Board.
Councilman Colvett and his wife, Lesley Harris, have a son, Frank III, and a daughter, Ella Louise. The family attends Calvary Episcopal Church.
Councilman Colvett is the Chair of the Council’s Housing and Community Development (HCD) Committee and Vice-Chair of the Public Safety & Homeland Security Committee. He is Council Liaison to the Memphis Museum System and the Memphis Shelby Crime Commission.
